The Birth of 30% Fragrance Melts

I didn’t start at 30%. I started at 20%.

Back in 2016, even that felt like pushing boundaries. Most wax melts sat comfortably at 10%, and anything stronger was treated like overkill. But I wanted fragrance that didn’t fade into the background five minutes after lighting.

So I made stronger melts. Not to be dramatic. Just because they worked better.

Then came 2019.

And 2020.

As my melts gained attention, so did the comments.

“Too strong.”

“Unnecessary.”

“Nobody needs that much fragrance.”

“Over 10% oil is illegal.”

A lot of noise from people who weren’t my customer.

I could’ve dialled it back.

Instead, I did the opposite.

I kept testing. I pushed the limits further. I scrapped oils that didn’t hold up and blends that smelled great for ten minutes then disappeared. What kept winning was stronger fragrance done properly.

That’s when 20% became 30%.

Not for shock value. Not for bragging rights. But because it delivered the bold, lasting scent I’d been chasing all along.
